“May God who is a strong tower to all, to whom all things in heaven and earth bow and obey, be now and evermore your defense, and help you to know that the name given to us for health and salvation is the Name of our Redeemer, Jesus Christ.”
— Final prayer of the healing litany
The Mid-Week Healing Eucharist is a normal Eucharist Service, but the Prayers of the People have been replaced by a Healing Litany. During the Litany, we pray for the sick, the disabled, those struggling with loneliness or depression, and all sorts of other illnesses. We pray also for the doctors and nurses who care for those in need.

The main part of the Healing Litany, however, is individual prayer for those who want it. During this time, the ministers will anoint people with oil and pray for them according to their needs (James 5:13-15). We firmly believe that God has the power to heal, and that miracles are still a part of the world today. While we may come to expect miracles with God, we also understand that sometimes God’s healing comes not in the form of a physical cure, but in the quiet understanding of God’s work in this world, and a peace that passes understanding. Some people may find physical healing, and some may experience a transformation of their spirit and a calmness that comes with the knowledge of the closeness of God.
Even if you do not wish to come up for anointing with oil and healing, the service provides a quiet respite from the week, and a chance to reflect upon God’s presence in your life.
All are welcome at this service.
